- It could be that the flash ROM that the datapump controller gets it code
- out of developed a soft cell- all it takes is one bad bit in a memory
- array from which you are fetching instructions to completely cause the
- controller to jump off into the weeds. When you flashed it with the latest
- firmware, you re-wrote the bad bit, and all is well. At least, for the
- time being. If the flash cell is chronically leaky, then the problem will
- reoccur --> send back to vendor or factory.
-
- It might also be a thermal problem- modem gets hot, and some component
- jumps the track. This kind of problem can be easily detected- wait for the
- modem to hang, then liberally hose down the components with freeze spray
- (available from electronics supply house). If the modem starts working
- again after power-up reset and cooling via freeze spray, and fails when it
- warms up again, --> thermal problem --> send back to vendor or factory.
-
- Good luck!
